ESE's training programme covers a wide range of subjects. Advanced topics for banking supervisors, such as the Advanced Basel III trainings, which have been organised on a cooperative basis by the OeNB and the BBk for European banking supervisors since 2004, as well as specialist topics are supplemented by training modules designed to strengthen "soft skills".

Training is also offered on a cross-sectoral basis. All training courses are mainly conducted by supervisors, practitioners from the financial industry and renowned academics.

ESE has adopted a modular philosophy for its training programme to ensure flexibility in integrating new requirements, adaptability to changing conditions, compatibility with European standards, and ensuring interchangeability among participating institutions. Courses are held in English and offered at different locations.
